so today I want to share with you how I FINALLY found the eyelid primer that suits my eyelid. We all react to different types of eyelid primer differently, so it's very important to try out several brand before purchasing them.
Here are all the ones I tried:
- Too Faced Shadow Insurance
- Kat Von D High Voltage Eye Primer
- Benefit Stay don't Stray Eyeshadow Primer
- Lorac Eyeshadow Primer
- Stila Prime Pot in Taffy
- Bare Escentuals Prime time Eye Primer
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
At first I didn't know much about eyelid primers. I just knew my eyelid was super oily and that I needed something for oil control. So after watching YouTubers and doing some research, I thought Too Faced had one that would suit me. I went to Sephora and purchased it. It did kinda work for the first few times I used it, then it just failed on me. My second attempt was by speaking to a representative at Sephora. They told me that the manager there swears by the Kat Von D High Voltage Eye Primer. When I tested it in the store, it did feel less "watery" than the Too Faced one. So I decided to give it a try. Failed after several tries.
Then I told myself, there's no way I'm going to start purchasing again. I will get samples and try them out for a whole week before buying again! The Benefit one kinda intensified the oiliness of my lid! The Lorac one was ok for the first few hours, and did start to crease and get oily after 4-5 hours.
Stila and Bare Minerals works very well on me, so I needed to assess the packaging. The Bare Escentuals new packaging of their eyelid primer is much more sanitary than the Stila, which came in a pot.
As for the Urban Decay Primer Potion, I didn't bother to test it out because I read lots of review that it didn't work on oily lids. This sample came with the Naked Palette.
*Did anyone had a hard time finding an eyelid primer that works for them*
Till next time...~
That's good that you found the perfect primer for you :) I've only tried UDPP and I stuck with it.. My eyelids only seem to get oily if I don't put anything on them at all. I really want to try the Bare Minerals eyelid primer next.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great post! I only tried benefit stay don't stray and too faced shadow insurance so far, but really want to try new stuff, because they crease on my after 4-5 hours :s I should ask for a sample next time like you-
ReplyDeletethanks for you comments girl girl. Yeah i think i really need a spa day haha.
ReplyDeleteoo i really want to try the kat von D one since their conceiler is really good
ok this is going to make me sound really noob like but what is eyelid primer for?? hahah
ReplyDeletehahah i do have oily eyelids.. actually i have a oily face in general.. but i always use like dry eyeshadow.. not wet.. so maybe thats why??
ReplyDeletei use UDPP, and so far it works wonder for me, but i tend to use colour eye base since those makes the eyeshadow i use pop alot more, but then again my eyelids aren't overwhelmingly greasy, but i would suggest you try Benefit's creaseless creamshadow, they are really good

Awesome post! I think getting samples first was a great way to test out products, I mean even though Sephora offers full refunds on products, its the time consumption that counts and that's really what you can't get back! Im glad you found one that works for you! I personally also have oily lids but I don't wear any sort of eye makeup there, is it good to wear anyways though? What do you think?
ReplyDeleteI'm going to grab a sample of PrimeTime the next time I go to Sephora! I've tried their face primer before but returned it after one use. LOL it didn't do anything, if not made my makeup melt off of my face. I'm following you back :)
ReplyDeleteCool! I want to try this eye lid primer!
